I’ve been using Chess Aresnal for a few weeks now, it is exactly the kind of app I was looking for. However after training a number of variations and adding a few new openings it became annoying how often I was presented with the same variation (with a relative high score) whilst other variations, especially new ones stayed behind. Therefore I have some suggestions:

    – The problem I’m experiencing is highly affected by the setting ‘train lines from beginning’. When I turn this setting off, I do get the new lines that I imported. It would already make a big difference if the selection behaviour would be similar.

    – As requested in one of the comments, it would be nice to be able to prioritize moves (played by opponent). This could be done by arranging them, but also by reducing the chance of using a variation commented with a ? or ?? (to practice responses against opening blunders)

    – In general settings foresee a slider to be able to choose between the likelihood of getting a new variation or a variation with a low score (in other words: minimum score of existing variations before presenting new ones)

    – Add a date/time stamp of last time a variation was played (to receive variations that were scored high but long time ago)

    – Add a general setting: ‘always repeat variation on error’

Hopefully this feedback is useful and can improve the app even more?

    Hi David,

Thanks for all the great suggestions! I do hope to get to some of these when I can, but I have to set expectations that, unfortunately, I can only squeeze in a couple hours a month so it won’t be anytime soon. New baby, work, and other hobbies; I hope you understand!

iCloud support in particular is what I’d like to look into next, as it would be super useful!

Hey Olbiviax, why not open the source code and put it into a repository ? 🙂

Chess Arsenal is close to the perfect tool for me but I am quite frustrated to see I can’t modify it/adapt it to our final needs 😉
